Updating the electronics protocol of an instrumented research cage so Noldus can expand its sensor capabilities for future behavioural studies

Client: Noldus Information Technology
Industry: Smart Industry
Service: Hardware Design, Embedded Software

The PhenoTyper is an observation cage used by research institutions worldwide to study the behaviour of laboratory rodents. Built by Noldus, each cage is equipped with a top unit housing LED lighting, a camera, and a range of sensors and stimuli.

SPINNOV updated the hardware communication protocol to allow additional sensors to be integrated into future versions of the system, extending the platform's research capabilities without requiring a redesign from scratch.
