PROSpike STINGER hardware and software allows for remote, delayed, and repetitive launch, for traffic control involving border checkpoints, roadblocks, security perimeters, or other remote environments where unauthorized vehicle entry is not allowed.

Our team was trusted to develop and build the hardware, the Central Processor Unit (CPU), the battery, and the remote control that provides continuous system status about battery capacity, pressure, and possible disturbances on the LCD screen of the remote control.

Client and Goals

The PROSpike Stinger was created from the idea that the user can set up a spike mat without risking his own life and then coordinate the deployment from a safe distance. The PROSpike Stinger can be activated with the remote control up to a maximum distance of 100 meters. In this way, a safe working distance is always created. The PROSpike Stinger is QA CE certified for safety by TüV Netherlands and therefore meets all environmental and occupational health and safety guidelines. Weighing only 24 kilos, the PROSpike Stinger can be lifted in and out of a vehicle by any user without additional lifting equipment. The concept II is even a lot lighter at just 16 kg.

Challenges

Developing PROSpike presented technological challenges in ensuring seamless integration of remote control activation for the spike mat. Overcoming technical intricacies involved in wireless communication and precise deployment coordination required innovative solutions. Achieving TüV Netherlands' QA CE certification demanded rigorous testing and adherence to safety guidelines, showcasing the commitment to both technological excellence and user safety in the creation of PROSpike Stinger.
