Wearable Jump Analysis for Elite Freestyle Snowboarders
Client: Urban Sports Performance Centre / TeamNL
Industry: SportsTech

Freestyle snowboarding comes down to milliseconds. A fraction too early or too late on the rotation can be the difference between a perfect landing and a failed jump. Dutch elite snowboarders felt that difference in their bodies, but feeling it and measuring it are two very different things.
Client and Goals
Snowtrixx was developed by Urban Sports Performance Centre and SPINNOV, based on a concrete need from TeamNL. Urban Sports Performance Centre contributed expertise in urban sports and project management, SPINNOV the technical knowledge, and Papendal the sport-specific context.
The goal was to give coaches and athletes an objective tool to replace observation and instinct with data, making the invisible visible, and turning general impressions into precise, actionable feedback. The project required a wearable measurement system, real-time data processing, and a coaching dashboard that could be used on the slope, between jumps, under competition conditions.
SPINNOV’s Role
SPINNOV developed Snowtrixx end-to-end: sensor hardware, embedded software, data processing, and the coaching dashboard. Specifically:
Designed and built the wearable sensor system — three strategically placed body sensors capturing speed, airtime, rotations, and force output
Developed embedded software for real-time data capture and transmission under field conditions
Built the data processing layer that identifies jump phases and X-factor moments from raw sensor streams
Designed the coaching dashboard UX/UI translating complex motion data into clear, immediately actionable insights
Optimised the full system for reliable outdoor operation on snow, in cold conditions, during live training sessions
